Giclée (pronounced "zhee-clay") is a French word translated literally as "to squirt". The term now refers to fine art quality prints. Giclées combine the most sophisticated digital imaging technology with fine art printing craftsmanship. A typical lithographic printing uses 4 colors at a screen resolution of 175-200 dots per inch. Jim’s giclées use up to 12 colors at a screen resolution of over 1000 dots per inch.
An artist’s proof is created that is carefully scrutinized by both the artist and Jim’s award-winning master printer. Only after the image meets the approval of Jim’s discerning eye is the edition printed. The work is printed on 100% cotton acid-free paper and each reproduction is signed and numbered by the artist.
Fine art giclées create a reproduction that is unsurpassed in capturing the look and feel of the original work of art and have emerged as the most sought-after medium for collectors of limited edition prints. |
